1

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

2

Line a 12-cup standard muffin pan with paper liners.

3

Allow the melted butter to cool slightly and soften the cream cheese before beginning.

4

Whisk the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg together in a medium bowl.

5

Whisk the melted butter and sugar together, then beat in the eggs, pumpkin puree, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.

6

Fold the dry ingredient mixture into the pumpkin mixture just until combined, taking care not to overmix.

7

Beat the softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth, then mix in the egg and vanilla.

8

Stir the granulated sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl.

9

Fill each prepared muffin cup halfway with pumpkin batter, add cream cheese filling to the center, and cover with the remaining batter.

10

Sprinkle the filled muffin cups evenly with the cinnamon sugar.

11

Bake at 350 F for 18 to 22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the pumpkin portion comes out clean.

12

Let the muffins rest in the pan for 5 minutes before moving them to a wire rack to cool.
